3. Timers

A timer makes it easy to set a fixed interval for Time Out, according to the child’s age. The child learns to listen for the ringer to sound, meaning he can rejoin the family.

Timers can also be used to set a period of time, e.g. 10 minutes, during which your child learns not to interrupt you. You may want to have a cup of coffee, read the paper or make a phone call, and you can teach your child that he must not interrupt you until the timer rings.
